BackWAT National Poetry Day Competition 2023
Posted on: 17th Oct 2023This year, the theme of National Poetry Day was ‘Refuge’ and our schools have had the opportunity to enter a Trust poetry competition.
There were so many fantastic entries across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 and all students who entered should be incredibly proud of their work.
Congratulations to the winner Isabella Cross from Kings Priory School for her beautiful poem, ‘Refuge’ which really impressed the judges.
Congratulations also to runner-up Dalton Bergquist, year 9, from St Peters Academy. His poem was a really moving response to the theme. Both will receive Amazon vouchers as prizes.
Thank you also to all the other fantastic young poets who entered, it was a pleasure to read so many superb poems and the work was of such a high standard it made it very difficult to choose.
There will be a short story competition soon, so keep an eye out for the next creative writing opportunity!
